Pamporovo
The resort founded in 1933 is located at an altitude of 1650 m above sea level at the foot of Snezhanka Peak (1926 m.). The total length of the ski racing tracks is 18 km. They are with various length and difficulty. The several /green/ tracks are at the disposal of the “trainees”, and the steep /black/ racing tracks are for the experts. They descend from the top of the 156 m high television tower to the resort complex and the beautiful Smolyan Lakes. The followers of ski running and biathlon will not be bored with the built-up specialized tracks around Snezhanka Peak and the sports shooting ground in the locality of Yazovira, either. The ropeways and the skilifts in the complex may service about 7000 persons per hour. The average annual temperature is 8 degrees, the snow cover often reaches 2 m and is kept for over 150 days a year and the sunny days add up to nearly 270. The total bed base adds up to about 7500 beds, located in luxurious hotels, departmental holiday homes, holiday settlements, chalets and others. The recreation town of Chepelare is situated at 10 km to the north of Pamporovo, and the administration center of Smolyan is at 11 km to the south. A great part of the high category hotels offer diversified prophylactic and rehabilitation programs in state-of-the-art balneological and medical centers. Over 15 ski-checkrooms work on the territory of the resort, which have over 8000 sets of state-of-the-art ski and snowboard equipment.
